Various Types of Wheelchairs

Different human beings need wheelchairs for different requirements. They might be a short duration help for getting back to normal or they may be long duration important sources of moving. Which other means you need them might be distinct but one point is fix, this modern wheelchair is a new marvel in design compared to 100 years ago.

The manual wheelchair and the power wheelchair are the two types of wheelchairs. Both wheelchairs have drawbacks & advantages. There is additional classification in the manual wheel chairs, the folding frame manual wheelchair and the rigid frame wheelchair. The folding wheelchair folds easily (wheel fronting wheel) for easy compact carrying.

The demerit of the folding frame wheelchair is that it is more bulky than a rigid frame wheelchair. There are no scissor arms in the rigid frame wheelchair, which make the folding frame wheelchair heavier and therefore rigid frame is lighter. Rigid frames are at times referred to as sport wheelchairs.

We also have powered & manual wheelchairs to choose. The benefits of each type of wheelchair are contrasted with demerits. Such a non automatic wheelchair gives the user a physical workout in arm exercise. The power wheel chair permits you a 20 mile limit in smooth travelling. Fortunately the using allows no physical labor at all.
